Seriously, how we never tried out this hotel chain before is beyond me... Each one (we've stayed at 3) has been better than the last! This La Quinta in Ft. Pierce (yes, back on the Atlantic side) is incredible, and what a steal at $45 per night. So that's the tip of the day, check the La Quinta next time you need a hotel :)
We've got a line on a beach bungalow, going to look at it tomorrow and if we like it, it may be our home for the next month. Also had a great comfort food dinner at the Cracker Barrel next door, yum yum. High of 81 today, it was lovely.
The trip back across the state was very monotonous, I'm sorry to say. We went "cross-country", stayed off the highways but not much to see at all. Some orange groves, and farms, but mostly just brush. Only 1 alligator sighting and no panthers! Another tip, if you are crossing the state, either take the Everglades route or the highways.
