My very first public blog, on my very first "snowbird" journey. Actually, I'm already tired of the word "snowbird". The word itself implies one is running away from the snow, and actually, it's still cold, even here in Florida!!
We left Canada around 7:30 a.m. on Jan 4. Our intention was to take it sort of easy, and stretch the drive over several days. First night was London, Kentucky, and it was still snowing there. Rats! However, today we finally got out of the sub-zero temperatures somewhere around Atlanta and at least now, just over the Florida border in Lake City Florida, there is NO SNOW! Now, on to the search for the perfect place to roost. Or maybe not, at least for a place to stay tomorrow night! Since I am really new to this, I will keep adding to this site and hopefully will make it an interesting and enjoyable place to visit. And I'm hoping to include some tips and hints for other "new snowbirds".
Tip #1, always pick up the discount room coupon books! You can "walk-in" to some great deals.

Where does one acquire a discount book like the aformentioned? Did you get Jen's email about Erika Ruston eloping over Christmas? Do you have a current email address for her?

ReplyDeleteI'm going to try to post a comment again. If others can figure it out, I should be able to do it. Love your posts and pics and I am glad the weather is beginning to cooperate for you. Of course, I am jealous!! It sounds like you will have a hard time deciding where to "land". Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteGlad you are enjoying yourselves! Thinking of you...New Mexico! :-)
Hey,
ReplyDeleteI think we're going to venture to FLA either late Feb. or late March. I would have likely gone on a trip if you were here to find me one :) I want it to be warm but not during March Break. I want to spend a few days on a beach somewhere and maybe a couple of days at Universal. Let me know on your travels if you find a great spot/hotel etc. We're bringing the kids. S.
Ok, I just figured out how to read all the other stuff :) I thought it was just what was on this first page... La Quinta sounds nice. Did you take any pictures of the room? S.
